All “pawsengers” (as the airline terms its furry flyers) will fly in the main cabin “first class style” and will be tended by onboard Pet Attendants, who check on pets every 15 minutes. PetAirways plan to commence their service in spring-summer 2009 on a handful of US routes including LA to Denver and New York to Washington DC. Tickets start at $149 one way. Pet owners will not be able to fly with their animals, even in cargo.PetAirways have not released details of their in flight entertainment, but Skyscanner expects the movie selection to include animal favourites such as: Born to be Wild, Garfield: A Tail of Two Kitties, and Ace Ventura: Pet Detective.If you fancy yourself handing out sick bags to Spaniels or catnip to kittens (over 18s only) you’re in luck: PetAirways are currently hiring In-Flight Pet Attendants. Required qualifications include:“Absolutely loving pets, having no allergies to pets, substantial pet handling experience and the ability to work well with all types of pets”.Skyscanner co-founder Gareth Williams commented on the launch:“There’s definitely a market for a pet airline; after all, the US spends $41 billion a year on pets, more than the GDP of over half the countries in the world!
